Our Founders

Project Success, Inc. was founded in 1983 as Young, Clark & Associates (YCA).

In 2005, YCA officially changed its name to Project Success, Inc. (PSI). This name change was intended to more accurately reflect the services we provide our clients.

Our founders – Tom Clark and Dennis Young – developed our proprietary Project Success Method.

Thomas B. (Tom) Clark

Dr. Thomas B. Clark was Professor Emeritus of Management at Georgia State University, where he also served as Chair of the Department of Management and as Acting Dean of the College of Business.  Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech.

In his academic career, Dr. Clark specialized in project management.  He taught graduate courses, conducted and supervised major research studies, and published numerous articles in the field.  Dr. Clark was an invited speaker at project management symposia in Austria and Saudi Arabia.  He received awards for teaching excellence and for service to the university and to students.

Dr. Clark provided project management consulting and training services for a wide variety of business, governmental, and nonprofit organizations.  He developed and marketed one of the first PC-based software tools for project scheduling and cost control.  Prior to beginning his academic career, he was employed as an industrial engineer by a national firm in the printing industry.  He also served as an operations research project officer at the U.S. Army Management Systems Support Agency at the Pentagon.

Upon retiring from the university and until his death in 2011, Dr. Clark dedicated himself to others as a disaster relief and blood services volunteer.  He also served on the board of directors for the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross.  He received several awards for public service.

Dr. Clark held bachelors and masters degrees in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Georgia State University.

A.P. (Dennis) Young

Mr. Young’s extensive project experiences include a broad spectrum of applications, industries, and corporate/national cultures. His high energy style, results oriented approach, and vast experience has formed the baseline for many of our project management experts today.  It is these qualities that foster the profound connection made with project managers and project teams during training or mentoring carried out by PSI associates.

Prior to founding YCA, Dennis held various management positions in the steel and mining industries. He has directed manufacturing start-ups/operations, a multi-plant engineering department, productivity improvement/cost containment programs, capital budgeting processes, and utilization of automated manufacturing systems.

Dennis is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a BSEE degree. He earned an MBA and MS in Decision Sciences from Georgia State University, where he has also instructed graduate and undergraduate courses.
